More than 100 years of quality, service, and dedication - Kinney Drugs

1873 - Future founder Burt Kinney is born in Gouverneur, New York.
1901 - Burt graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy and began to work in a drug store as a clerk.
1903 - Burt Kinney opens the very first Kinney Drugs store.
1915 - The first electric lights were installed in a Kinney Drugs.
1925 - A vision of expansion leads to additional stores in Massena, Adams, Carthage, and Watertown, New York.
1950 - The post World War II economy demands convenience, diversity, and abundant parking - leading to a new "shopping center" concept.
1962 - The Kinney Drugs distribution center is built to service the tremendous expansion.
1970 - The first Kinney Drugs opens in Vermont.
1982 - Kinney Drugs opens a Long Term Care division of the retail drugstore chain.
1988 - The EzRefill System is introduced, allowing customers to call in their prescriptions from home.
1992 - The latest edition to the distribution center brings the total size of the warehouse to 135,000 square feet.
1999 - ProAct Pharmacy Services, Inc., a pharmacy benefit management company, is formed.
2002 - The Kinney Drugs Foundation is created.
2006 - Ms. Bridget A. Hart is named President and CEO.
2008 - Kinney Drugs becomes a fully sanctioned "ESOP" - Employee Stock Ownership Plan company.
