Kinney Drugs Inc. a leading community pharmacy and retail network in New York and Vermont has taken steps to prepare its stores to help prevent the spread of swine flu. The regional chain has taken immediate action on stocking up on pharmaceutical and hygiene products as swine flu continues to spread across the U.S.

All stores have been provided with information regarding the prevention and treatment of this disease. Kinney Drugs merchandising team met with suppliers to increase inventory on flu related items such as alcohol based hand sanitizers, surface disinfectants, personal protective equipment and various OTC cold and flu medications.

The antiviral drug, Tamiflu is in high demand as public concerns over swine flu increase. The organization has ordered additional doses to be available in the communities they serve. \"We recognize our customers are concerned, commented Mike Duteau, Director of Pharmacy Operations. As always, our Kinney pharmacists are prepared and available to answer their questions.\"

According to the CDC there are 91 confirmed human cases of the swine flu infection as of Wednesday, April 29th. The CDC has implemented an emergency response to reduce transmission and illness severity, and has provided information to help health care providers, public health officials and the public address the challenges posed by the new virus.
